 [Contact Information]

The Wuntai Pagoda is located southeast of Nanpan Mountain at Old Jingcheng and was built in 1387 by Ming Marquis Chou Te-Hsing (the inspector for the Fu, Xing, Quan and Zhang counties). The pagoda itself is located on a rock hilltop and there are many stories about its construction. Some say that it was used as a navigation beacon wile others claim it was a "Feng Shui" or "Astronomical" pagoda built to pray for good rains, gentle winds, peace and prosperity. A third school claims that Ming Dynasty's Emperor Taizu heard that the omens pointed to an emperor in the Southeastern China Sea so sent Chou Te-hsing to build a pagoda and counteract the omens. The Wuntai Pagoda is today a class 2 historic monument.
